Self-sealing pan head screws are also referred to as "screws with rubber gaskets", "screws with sealing washers" or "screws with seals". A self-sealing pan head screw has a flat head and a rubber seal – in the form of a sealing washer under the screw head. These screws thus combine the traditional advantages of a flat head screw with those of a sealing element, such as a sealing nut.
Via this combination, pan head screws offer the advantage that they lie evenly on the workpiece due to their special design. This makes them not only particularly gentle on the underlying material and visually inconspicuous, but also ideal when it comes to minimizing damage as well as the risk of injury. Thanks to their integrated sealing washer, self-sealing pan head screws also prevent liquids or other undesirable substances from penetrating into machines and other devices or components.

Patented self-sealing screws in the ETTINGER product range
To ensure that you can always find the right screw with washer and gasket – or any other type of screw – for your specific application, ETTINGER is continuously expanding its product range. When it comes to screws with sealing washers, ETTINGER offers the APM self-sealing screw as a patented single element. These screws include a SEELSKREW® seal and were designed with the goal of combining tightening and sealing in a single fastening element. This is achieved by means of an O-ring secured in a groove directly underneath the screw head.
On the one hand, this approach ensures a perfect seal. At the same time, the metal screw head comes into direct contact with the surface of the workpiece – for a seamless transition. The sealing ring consists of silicone rubber in accordance with ZZ-RR-765 Class I and II, Shore hardness 70. For even easier assembly, we offer flat head screws and other screws with sealing washers in our product range, including variants with a fused-on polyamide sealing ring as custom products.
Pan head screws to ISO and DIN standards
Increasingly, the common DIN standard published by the German Institute for Standardization is being replaced by the international ISO standard. Screws with a rubber gasket are often listed under both their DIN standard and the corresponding ISO standard. Our broad product range includes:
