Washers are mechanical or “non-electrical” parts that are often used in electronics production for PCB assembly. They are an essential part of almost every parts list and are used in prototypes, small-series and large-series production, generally in combination with other connection and fastening components. They also have a diverse range of applications in mechanical engineering as well as in the automotive industry, transport technology, communication technology and medical devices.
Washers are predominantly standard parts, which are usually manufactured in the metal industry in large quantities by punching or turning. In addition, they might also be heat treated to harden the steel or they may be surface treated to improve durability, for example by using electroplating to increase corrosion resistance. Plastic washers are manufactured using the injection molding process.

Most of our washers for screws are made of steel and have an inside diameter of 2.2 mm to 13 mm, an outside diameter of 4 mm to 23 mm and a thickness of 0.3 mm to 5 mm. Steel washers are divided into different strength grades using the numbers 4.6, 8.8 and 12.9. This makes it very easy to determine their tensile strength (first number; 4.6) and yield strength (second number; 4.6).
For use in corrosive environments, stainless steel is also worth considering in addition to brass and plastic. The most commonly used stainless steel grades for washers are A2 and A4. The A stands for austenitic steels, which have excellent ductility, resilience, and corrosion resistance. The number indicates the type of steel. A2 is used as standard, whereas A4 stainless steel washers are used, for example, in coastal regions because of the high salt content in the air. A4 washers are also used in areas near chlorinated water (which contains acid) and in the food and chemicals industries. Order you chosen washer designs easily online, even in high quantities!
In contrast to stainless steel washers, a protective coating is required on normal steel washers if they are used in corrosive conditions. We offer different surface treatment finishing processes.
