Whenever a firm hold is required for screwed connections on components, lock nuts are the answer. These hexagon nuts are self-locking, which means no additional fastening element is required to prevent the nut from loosening. For this purpose, the stop nuts are equipped with a plastic ring on one end face.
When the screw is screwed in, the ring, also known as the clamping part, deforms and is clamped to the screw thread: This results in friction locking, which ensures that the preload force is maintained. This ensures the screw connection remains intact even under demanding conditions.
Lock nuts with a plastic clamping part cannot be reused after loosening, as the ring is destroyed. However, there are also all-metal nuts with a clamping part made of steel. These hexagonal nuts are designed for high loads and are generally reusable.

Poly-Stop lock nuts to DIN 985
These classic lock nuts comply with DIN 985 / ISO 10511 and are available with a metric or UNC thread. The blue insert is located on a ring-shaped extension at the top of the nut and presses against the screw threads when tightened. This frictional locking mechanism prevents loosening due to dynamic loads and vibrations. The non-metallic clamping part is made from polyamide and does not damage the thread surfaces.
Choose from the following versions:
- Material: galvanized steel, A2 or A4 stainless steel
- Thread: M2, M2.5, M3 to M6, M8, M10, M12, M16, UNC 4/40
- Dimensions: SW 4.5 to 24 mm, 1/4 inch
Lock nuts with flange and polyamide insert
These self-locking hexagon nuts with a non-metallic insert comply with DIN 6926 / ISO 7043 and are available in 8.8 galvanized steel or A2 and A4 stainless steel. The smooth flange without toothing increases the bearing surface without damaging soft materials. This has the following advantages:
