SEMS screws or combination screws include a captive flat washer, spring washer, or conical spring washer that is permanently attached to the screw. This eliminates the need to source these items separately, improves assembly performance and reduces the error rate. Disassembly is also easier because the small washers don't need to be laboriously collected and stored securely until reassembly. In detail, SEMS screws offer the following benefits:
- Elimination of several work steps, i.e. finding and attaching individual washers
- It is not possible to forget to insert the washers during assembly!
- Screw connections are easier to assemble in confined spaces
- Requirements management is simplified and storage capacity freed up
Especially for PCB assembly in the electronics industry as well as for the assembly of components and devices in general, combination screws (typically with cross slot, Torx® head, hexagon socket, or hexagon head) are often used in series production due to the above-mentioned advantages.
ETTINGER supplies SEMS screws in numerous versions as metric threaded screws in accordance with the DIN/ISO standards with cross slot, slot, and Torx®.
Wide variety of combinations and drives
We stock the following combination screws in our standard product range:
- with flat washer EN ISO 10644
- with spring washer DIN 6900-2 Z3
- with flat washer and spring washer DIN 6900-2 Z3-1
- with spring ring DIN 6900-3 Z4
- with flat washer and spring ring DIN 6900-3 Z4-1
- with serrated washer DIN 6900-4 Z7 (also with pointed screw)
- with conical spring washer DIN 6900-5 Z9
- with clamping washer DIN 6900
You can choose between cross recess Pozidriv (design Z), cross recess Phillips (design H), and Torx® with or without slot. The screws have metric threads in sizes M2.5 to M6 and are made of high-quality galvanized steel corresponding to strength class 4.8 or 8.8, or stainless steel A2.
Whichever screw diameter and washer shape you require, we will be glad to assist you and can even produce custom parts subject to a minimum order quantity – please contact our sales team. In the ETTINGER product range you will also find collar screws and special screws as well as UNC threaded screws, countersunk head screws, flat head screws and hexagon screws. Threaded screws, sheet metal screws and special screws with pressed-on washers are also available.
