A collar screw has both a metric partial thread and a smooth shank without a thread. Collar screws with or without a screw head are available; the latter variants are especially suitable for applications where there is simply no room for a screw head – for example, inside certain machines. For this reason, collar screws are a popular choice as machine screws. Collar screw with hexagon socket
Collar screws with a hexagon socket drive offer the advantage that they can generate higher torques than other drive types – and can therefore be tightened more firmly. This results in greater stability.
Collar screw with cross slot
Depending on the specific application, a cross-slotted collar screw can be a useful alternative to the single-slotted variant, as socket head screws with a cross slot can transmit torque more efficiently than their single-slotted counterparts.
