Square Nuts
Square nuts differ from the more common hexagon nuts in that they have a square, rather than hexagonal, shape. When used with hexagonal or round-head screws, this allows square nuts to create stable, twist-proof connections. These nuts can be easily tightened and loosened with the appropriate tool.
Square nuts are primarily used for securing components in control cabinets and enclosures. For example, they can be inserted into the profiles of 19-inch racks. In the automotive industry, they are used for mounting mechanical parts and securing connections subject to vibrations. The construction industry uses square nuts for steel structures and frameworks.
Additionally, square nuts to DIN 557 are used as insert nuts in cage nuts.

Square nuts to DIN 562 – the low-profile option
- Material: galvanized steel, A2 stainless steel, nickel-plated brass
- Thread: M2.5 to M6
- Width across flats: 5 to 10
- Height: 1.6 mm to 3.2 mm
In addition, we offer turned square nuts with M6 threads that are designed for use in pre-formed recesses, particularly in 19-inch enclosures. These nuts are made from zinc-plated steel 4.8.
