Cable glands from ETTINGER
Whenever reliable strain relief and sealing of a cable or line is required, e.g., through an enclosure wall, cable glands are the answer. They ensure reliable protection against mechanical stress and other influences as well as dust and moisture. At the same time, cable glands can also serve as insulation or provide mechanical bend protection. Metric or PG cable glands are frequently used. PG cable glands in accordance with DIN EN 62444 are now only permitted in exceptional cases. For new designs, only metric cable glands may be used. In terms of size, eight new metric sizes were created on the basis of ten old PG sizes – a 1:1 match is unfortunately not possible. The figure below illustrates the respective dimensions and ratios.
Cable glands must also comply with certain protection classes. Specifically, they must be marked with an IP code (IP = International Protection), which determines the suitability of equipment for the environmental conditions in the context of human safety. This, in combination with a reference standard, prescribes corresponding specifications.
An overview of different cable glands

- Cable glands – metric EN 50262
Our metric cable glands comply with EN 50262 for lightning-fast assembly based on the proven characteristics of the earlier PG series. To fasten the cable glands you need the appropriate locknuts, which you can also order online from ETTINGER. Our metric cable glands are available in thermally stable (static -40°C to +100°C, dynamic -20°C to +80°C) polyamide with neoprene seals. The locknuts are made of glass fiber-reinforced polyamide and are highly resistant to acids, alkalis, sea water, gasoline and mineral oils. Metric flexible cable glands are also included in our product range. - Click cable glands
Simply click in and tighten – installing our Click cable glands is easy and lightning fast. They are made of durable polyamide 6, comply with protection class IP68 at 5 bar in the specified clamping range in accordance with DIN 40050, and offer dependable thermal stability (-30°C to +100°C). - Cable glands with hexagonal intermediate socket
Our cable glands with hexagonal intermediate socket are made of nickel-plated brass with a neoprene seal. Their protection class corresponds to IP54 but can be upgraded to IP65 using a connection thread sealing ring. The corresponding locknuts can easily be ordered from ETTINGER. - Waterproof cable glands
The O-ring mounted on the connection thread ensures that these cable glands are reliably watertight. They are made of nickel-plated brass and comply with protection class IP68 and the EN 50262 standard. You can order suitable locknuts from us online. - Skindicht® mini cable glands
The Skindicht® mini cable gland is characterized by its low overall height, large clamping range and neoprene sealing insert, which reliably seals the gland against the ingress of water. - EMC cable glands
EMC cable glands are suitable for cables with braided shielding. They offer easy handling – simply push the shielding braid back over the gland's plastic insert. Alternatively, we also stock EMC cable glands with shield contact blades as standard contacts for thin cables, and as a convenient way to continue the cable shielding to another connection. - GRIP cable glands
These glands are a good choice for use in mobile devices and machines, in plant construction, for automation systems and for crane, conveyor and transport systems. They guarantee a secure screw connection under extreme operating conditions and offer additional protection against cable kinking and unintentional disconnection thanks to the strain relief with double cable grip.
