Knurned nuts
Knurled nuts are specialized nuts characterized by their knurled surface. This knurling can be applied either on the outside of the nut or on an extended flange. The ridges allow the nut to be easily grasped and tightened or loosened by hand, without the need for tools. This is particularly advantageous in applications where frequent assembly and disassembly are required, such as during maintenance work.
However, knurled nuts are not suitable for high torque applications and are not recommended for robust connections that must withstand significant vibrations and stresses.
The main application areas for knurled nuts are:

Low-profile and high-profile knurled nuts: the right shape for every application
In the ETTINGER B2B online store, you can purchase knurled nuts similar to DIN 467 with a low-profile flange, as well as versions similar to DIN 466 with a high-profile flange. Both types are made of white polyamide 6.6, making them suitable for electrical insulation. Our high-profile knurled nuts are available with threads ranging from M3 to M6 and feature fine, straight knurling. The shoulder under the flange is not knurled.
Our low-profile variants, similar to DIN 467, are ideal for applications where space is limited, such as inside devices and instruments. This type is available in thread sizes M3 to M6 and M8, with the M6 version also offered in black polyamide 6.6.

We can also supply your company with knurled nuts with sealing rings. These nuts are made of anodized aluminum and are designed for shaft diameters of 4 mm and 6 mm. The sealing ring ensures a reliable seal during front panel mounting, such as on potentiometers and switches.
